Frozen Dead Guy Days in Nederland, Colorado - Coffin Races & Polar Plunge!
Dead Guy Days Days - Coffin Races & Turkey Bowling in Nederland Colorado CO
By Jesse Hoff
Went to visit Nederland, Colorado for the annual Dead Guy Days festival. Turkey Bowling ensued, polar plunges, and the main event, a good old Dead Man Coffin Race. The event reminded me a great deal of an event in Chatanika, Alaska where modified outhouses are raced.

Nedfest - Nederland, CO
The Nederland Music & Arts Festival (aka NedFest) is an annual three-day outdoor music, arts and microbrew festival with camping located in the mountains of Nederland, Colorado on the shores of Barker Meadow Reservoir, just 17 miles (27 km) west of (3, 000 ft. (900 m) above) Boulder, Colorado in the United States, typically held the last weekend of August. The music featured is in the bluegrass, jazz, jamband, jamgrass and worldbeat genres, or moreover, a sound that blends these styles and others together. Up to six bands perform each day on one stage with acoustic ‘tweener sets between each band.
Started in the 1880s, Miners’ Days celebrates the mountain town’s mining heritage with a weekend of action. Men and women compete in spike driving, hand and machine drilling, and other traditional events in this annual prize competition. There are also amateur and children’s events, craft booths, a parade and more.
